A unique farm set within the Alcornacales Natural Park (Natura 2,000) with its own private Roman fortress.
La Cabeza de Hortales is a hill within the Sierra de Cadiz. It is natural dehasa, a mixed woodland and open grassland. The vegetation and the views change as you move around the 360º and there is an enormous variety of flora and fauna.
This is a 100 hectare farm set within the Alcornocales Natural Park, that lies between Prado del Rey and El Bosque in the Province of Cadiz. At the top of the farm there is a 6 hectare open area where the Roman fortress of Iptuci stands.
The 4 bedroom house is approximately 140 sqm and part of it is currently used as storage. The house is lit by solar panels and behind it there is another 60 sqm of living space. There is a 140 sqm farrowing barn and a stable block of 40 sqm with two boxes and a tack room.
From the house the views of the Sierra de Cadiz and the Pantano (lake) de los Hurones are breathtaking. On the top of the hill, the Roman ruin is set on a flat area with a 360º view. Other faces of the hill look over a varied landscape.
On the land there are two excellent wells and storage space for 40,000 litres. There is a 10,000 kg silo and additional tolvas, feeders, water troughs, and everything necessary for running a farrowing herd of Iberico pigs and a herd if indigenous beef cattle.
The farm is organic and receives a variety of different European Union subsidies. All farm machinery and animals are also included in the price, if the buyer wants, as the idea is to sell a working farm. All the paper work, deeds etc, are in order and rights to subsidies will be transferred directly.
