Cortijo de Cortes is a 6 km sq m property (a Cortijo or Hacienda in Spanish means a rural great house surrounded by countryside) located in the valley of the river Darro, near the city of Granada, Andalusia, Spain.
This cortijo is part of Granada municipality and is located 25 mins from the city centre and only 10 mins from the smaller villages of Huetor-Santillan and Beas de Granada. The access is by highway A-92 and then 4 additional km of non-asphalt road, but it is in perfect condition for all types of cars and bikes.
The Valley and River Darro
Originally, this property was divided into six smaller cortijos, which merged together a long time ago. Today the ruins of some of the other houses can be still found across the valley. The property covers both sides of the River Darro. This river is the traditional water supply of the historical Arabic Palace Al-Hambra and the palace of Generalife next to it, both located in the top of a hill over the city of Granada.

- 30,000 sq m of wine grapes plantation, including two varieties: red grape Cabernet Sauvignon and white grape Vermentino.
The rest of the property area is 5,000,000 sq m of valley including vast areas of shrubland and Mediterranean trees such as Holm/Holly Oaks, Portuguese Oaks, or Pines. There are many others rural roads, suitable for 4 x 4, across all the property. Access to the house and all main ways are suitable for any type of car or bike. A hunting permit (coto de caza in Spanish) is in place for both big and small pieces (including wild boars, partridges and song thrush).
1 km from the main house, going down along the valley, there is another house, partially reformed from ruins. Non-habitated at the moment but it could be with proper renovations. 100 m from the house there are two warehouses of 600 sq m that can be used for vehicles storage, machinery, animals, etc.
The Costa Tropical
The semi-tropical coast of Granada province is located at only 1 hr 10 min with marina facilities for recreational yachts in Motril port. The International Airport of Malaga, Costa del Sol, connects with 60 countries, is 1 hr 39 min away. For domestic flights Granada Airport is only 33 mins away. The ski station of Sierra Nevada, one of the most southerly of Europe, is a 1 hr drive.
